Day One in Washington D.C

We arrived back in Louisville on Saturday. We were all quite jet lagged for a few days but on Tuesday we drove 11 1/2 hours to Maryland to spend 5 days in Washington D.C. with Mum and Dad. On the first day we caught the Metro into Union Station. This is one of the most beautiful stations that we have ever seen. The ceilings are even plated in real gold.
We spent the day on a bus tour so that we could get an over view of the city. Part of the tour bus was a visit to Arlington Cemetery. This is a beautiful spot where past presidents are buried and soldiers from every war that America has been involved in.

John. F. Kennedy's grave with the eternal flame behind it.
The changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier.

Mum and Dad looking back towards the Washington Monument. This area is called the Mall and all the museums, the White House and lots of other monuments are on either side. Outside the Capitol Building
